Synology Ubuntu VM no sound when running

Asked by Sylvain Voukirakis

Install a virtual machine running Ubuntu 20.01.1.LTS. When running the session and trying to play sound nothing works. As a device I have a Fictive Output . Did run the alsa-info, result below. Of cource the server where the VM is installed doesn't have sound card. But the VM should re-direct the sound to the pc running it....I guessed...Thanks for your help

Another important information. The screen is connected via HDMI to wavlink hub that is connected via USB 3 to the PC

Maybe you are missing the linux-modules-extra-5.8.0-40-generic package.

What is the output of the commands

sudo lshw -C multimedia
dpkg -l | grep -E ' linux-[ghims]'

I do not see any sound device.
I have only very limited knowledge about Synology and VMs, so I do not know whether it is possible at all to "fake" a sound device over HDMI.
I am sorry, but I cannot help further.

Can you help with this problem?
