Im running 16.04 on a Dell XPS L502X with HDA Intel PCH Realtek ALC665 audio card/chip.

Problem: no sound from speakers, but headphones are ok.

I followed the SoundTroubleshooting procedures (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure#Step) until step 8 without problem solution.

Thanks in advance,

Select to not upload the data then open the resulting file in gedit. Post the entire contents of the file as an update on
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+question/663073

Replying to the automated email and attaching a file doesn't work.

Thanks

If you run:

alsamixer

Are all levels maxed and unmuted? Use M to un/mute, cursor keys as you expect and ESC to exit. Use F6 to change the device manipulated.

Thanks for the tip Andrew, but it was the first thing I tried.

It seems that Ubuntu have a long history of problems with the Realtek:
