Pulse sits on top of ALSA. You don't convert from one to the other. You just removed ALSA.

If you run: alsamixer

Are all levels maxed and unmuted?

everything seems to be working now. I copied a complex diagnostic
command that I got from a website and dragged it into terminal. Then
missing dependencies were presented to me for download from heaven. I
downloaded them. Thanks for the run: alsamixer command.

Pulse Audio has reappeared on my computer and it seems to be configured
correctly.

Mine is not to wonder why.

Mine is but to do or die.
