My sound card doesn't work properly after update.

Asked by Ubuntu4life

My SB live! Value EMU10k1X has always worked perfectly with any Ubuntu version.
But in 10.10 the card does play some sounds but it seems like it's wanting to play too fast. It's hard to discribe.
The music player sometimes gives an error 'pa_stream_writable_size() failed: Connection terminated'.
The syslog says its the ALSA driver 'snd_emu10k1x'.
The weird thing is that the surround sound profile seems to work just fine ! But I use headphones...

How do I fix this and how can it be fixed for everyone (maverick)?

I can imagine that you guys need more information but I haven't been able to find more.
So if you need some more and/or specific information please just ask !

Some syslog information I've found:

ubuntu pulseaudio[3259]: alsa-sink.c: ALSA woke us up to write new data to the device, but there was actually nothing to write!

ubuntu pulseaudio[3259]: alsa-sink.c: Most likely this is a bug in the ALSA driver 'snd_emu10k1x'. Please report this issue to the ALSA developers.

ubuntu pulseaudio[3259]: alsa-sink.c: We were woken up with POLLOUT set -- however a subsequent snd_pcm_avail() returned 0 or another value < min_avail.
