Asked by needhelp

Hi,

I had no problem with my sound card before with Ubuntu. But I just upgraded to the official release of 10.10 now my soundcard (SB Live value EMU10k1x) plays sound like a scratched CD, can't understand anything. it's like skipping every other part. I divx video, youtube, the same problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. And I think i have alsa 1.0.23

Thanks

Might've found a temp solution from another user here: Ubuntu4life

If you change the speakers to analog 4.0 surround out, it works for now

See bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/659661

Same issue - fixed by following procedure outlined here:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/InstallingLinuxAlsaDriverModules

That restored smooth sound except for all desktop-login sounds despite all the correct configurations.
