Upgraded to 12.04 from 11.01 fan now on full speed

Asked by Sheda Savage

I have upgraded my Ubuntu from 11.10 to 12.04. Previously the fan was on full at start up and then slowed right down after booting up.

Since upgrading the fan is on full speed all the time and loud. I have an HP xw4400 Workstation.

Can you help?

Thank you.

I suggest you report one.

If you boot the Precise liveCD, is it the same?

I do not have a Precis liveCD - I updated the latest version of Ubuntu from Update Manager. My computer is an Intel Core2 dual

Same problem. Fans don't ever turn off after upgrading to 12.04 despite very low CPU loads. Temps are low, but fan stays on.

Can you help with this problem?
