my ubuntu 7.04 doesnt like virtualbox, help!!

my feisty fawn crashes my virtual machine when i use virtualbox: when i start my virtual machine it just reboots over and over and tells me that it "cant update the registry". vb says its better to use kernels 2.6.13 or higher. how can i tell what kernel i have on my feisty fawn and how to change my kernel version??? your my last hope and thanks in advance!!ric kealoha

Hello,

open a terminal and enter uname -a and you get your actual kernel version. Please check these and post the answer here.

hello again my kernel version is 2.6.20-16-generic #2
SMP, so it seems my kernel is ok for virtualbox s
recommended 2.6.13 or higher recommendation, yet still
no luck with virtualbox

Hello,
so, and please correct me if i am wrong, you installed virtualbox on a
windows machine, then you created a virtual machine and the you
installed feisty and even if your start your machine with feisty you get
this error? Do you have administrator permissions on the windows
machine?

no no! my host os is feisty fawn, and my guest os is
xp sitting inside virtualbox; when i try to run xp it
simply reboots over and over, and xp does not continue
to configuring itself. xp tells me the error is "it
can not update the registry"

Hello,

open a gnome-terminal ->Alt+F2->enter gnome-terminal->enter sudo virtualbox->then you will ask for the root password and thats it
