EEPC 1005HA and wireless (wifi). Ubuntu 8.10

I have a secured wifi with Belgacom ADSL Go (via a bbox modem). I recently replaced an EEE PC 900 by my EEEPC 1005HA. I had a procedure to help the 900 be recognized by my secure wifi and was able to use adsl. That was several months ago. I no longer have the written procedure. Also, my EEEPC1005HA, it is unable to find any wifi (wireless) connections, secure or not. Is there a problem with 8.10 and my 1005HA? How do I get the network connected to my 1005HA, secured or not?

I admit that my explanation is not very clear, but I hope that you are able to understand what I'm trying to say and that you can help me. Belgacom tells me to contact their technical support, but noone ever answers the toll free number. I have no other solution but to ask via Ubuntu forums. I'm a relative newbie.

you can try installing karmic (ubuntu9.10) that should solve your problem i think.

I did try with a USB key. It said that the operating system was
missing. Can you explain how to proceed? I used usb-creator.

     I created a USB starter disk with Ubuntu 9.10, once with desktop and
once with netbook remix, but each time, I was unable to succeed. I
don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Did you MD5 test the IMG / ISO you used?

If only I understood the question, maybe I could answer that. I'm a
n00b. I do have a question as to the preparation of the usb key. Did I
leave out something in the preparation of the Karmic usb key? I heard
someone talk of things being in the correct place.
