Does anyone know how to install Epocrates with Ubuntu 9.1?

Asked by springmang

I'm not a geek, just a newbie, so I need some direction that's very simple. I've installed jpilot and saved all my contacts but can't download Epocrates, any help would be greatly appreciated. Gary

I've also gone over everything in the forum on this, and most of it I don't understand, and don't want to screw up, isn't there a Linux version of Epocrates yet? Gary

Do you mean the free medical PDA software?

It's the free version of Epocrates where you have to first download the
installer which then connects to the internet to download and install the
program. Gary

Yes it's the free version of Epocrates, where you have to download the installer and that connects to the internet to download and install the program. I know it would run through wine if I only could download the full free version. Gary

You can try via wine as it will most likely be windows software. not all apps run great / all all in wine, somerun fantastically

See how you go

Your app may be listed on the appdb for wine, you should check that out too.

Then you can pressure the company to support Linux or you will have to run a virtual machine to run the software, this not only bloats your system having to run 2 OSes but also requires a license and install media for the windows system. If the main use of the system is the medical software then you may as well just use windows, or you could dual boot to get windows and linux.

Sorry but that doesn't help, since Ubuntu is the only OS I have.

Yes but you can use virtualbox to run an OS withing ubuntu to make your software run

The system needs windows and the coders have been shortsighted enough to not allow the software to run on anything other than windows so you wil have to bend to their needs or find an lternative

Can you help with this problem?
