[karmic-amd64] HP Pavilion dv9x00 series laptop overheating

Asked by jwesleycooper

Last night, my display suddenly became distorted after several hours of use, and I had to pull the plug an battery. After that, I wasn't getting anything but a gray screen, and a hard reset didn't help, so I just turned it off an went to bed. In the morning, it was once again working fine, but I'm beginning to really wonder if the fan is being controlled properly; as it doesn't seem to kick into full speed anymore... So how would check upon how my fan is being controlled, and set it to run at max for now?
