Kernal Panic After installing updates

Asked by Gio

I installed Ubuntu 9.10 via Wubi and everything was going great. I decided I would update it (seeing as i had about 42 packages to install) and eveything went fine. I left out updates for Apparmour and anything that had to do with it in the hopes that the error doesnt come back. I let a family member use my computer for a bit and he said he had installed the remaining updates for me, i hoped that the update that caused the problem wasnt installed however that wasnt the case.

After restarting the computer Ubuntu will no longer boot. I have the live CD that im using currently trying to find an answer, however i have not found a clear solution.

This is the 2nd time this has happened already! Everytime i boot it say: Kernal Panic - not syncing: unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0) or something along those lines. I really dont want to reboot right now because it takes a while to start up, so please anyone, any help?
