can't run firefox

Asked by andyH

i'm using kubuntu 6.10 and can't run firefox. I've tried going to add/remove hardware, and various run commands but no go. I downloaded a copy of firefox in my home folder as well. Any ideas? thanks in advance, A.

Hello Andy,

please open firefox in a terminal and send us the error message.

sudo apt-get install firefox
reading package lists...done
building dependency tree
reading state information...done
package firefox is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only
available from another source
E: package firedfox has no installation candidate

I had a look in adept add/remove programs and firefox is shown in internet, any suite, but I can't select it?
