Flash 10 failed on load and locked up further load/unload action

Asked by Tonamator

I Updated to Ubuntu 9.10, Karmic Koala, as soon as I was notified by the Update Manager that it was available from the previously installed 9.04.
The Immediate result was Firefox 3.5.4 browser and tabs then would load painfully slowly.
As soon as Firefox 3.5.5 appeared on the Update Mgr, I upgraded.
I was then advised that my version of Flash would become unstable and recommended Flash 10 be installed.
I proceeded as instructed, the installation failed mid-way. I have no flash, can't reinstall or uninstall. Flash files exist in the system, but only one can be seen by the Computer Janitor (as unused) but cannot be removed. Is there a Flash removal or cleanup tool that is available for easy processing back to ground zero? I am not very adept at system file manipulation and frankly am not well aquainted with geek speak,so I'm afraid I can only follow novice instructions.

Thank you all in advance for your kind consideration of my problem.

Since time and research was providing no progress to my dilemma, I took the coward's way out. I reformatted back to Ubuntu 9.04 and Firefox 3.0.15, where I will cower in my cave of dim light and yesterday's advances, but enjoying faultless performance at blinding speed.

So join me here, Mark, by the fire and watch and wait.
