Boot time slower in Karmic than it was in Jaunty.

Asked by Myroslav

I thought that one of the features of Karmic was to be a faster boot. After recently upgrading to Karmic from Jaunty, I am finding that it takes at least three times, approximately, longer to boot now than it did with Jaunty. After I reach the desktop, everything works at the same speed as before. What can I do to improve this? I am using ubuntu 9.10AMD.

Have a look at "Get Dramatically Faster Boot Times In Karmic With Ubuntu-Boot PPA" on http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2009/10/get-dramatically-faster-boot-times-in.html

The page is there, but in the email you received, the hyperlink is truncated. You need to copy the link, paste it in the URL address in Firefox and then paste the remaining part (second line in the email)
