I'm trying to get Firebird DBMS to work with Jaunty Desktop

Asked by Zach Kriesse

For almost a week now I've been trying to set up Apache2/PHP5-PEAR/and Firebird. I can get Apache2 and PHP5 installed just fine but when it comes to getting Firebird set up I hit a brick wall at 80 miles an hour.....it's caused me to reload my system at least 10 times now as I break the packages trying to make Firebird work. I know it can be done but so far all I've found is riddles and more questions. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Ok.....I've installed the packages you suggest on the Ubuntu
Documentation Website....after eight consecutive times of installing I
don't think it's gonna work. I'm not breaking my system again until I'm
absolutely sure it's gonna work.

Well the output is nilch because I don't have any server software on
this harddrive....I'm using a different one for finding answers. And
since it's a laptop I can't just switch at the drop of a hat.
