Where can I find the file that stores all of the passwords and usernames I enter when I log into various sites?

(Assuming you're using Firefox as your web browser)

If you're curious to see the actual file Firefox uses to store your passwords, see this page:

http://cybernetnews.com/cybernotes-changing-your-firefox-password-file/

or google for "Firefox password file". Firefox uses its own internal mechanism for storing passwords, instead of using an OS-specific password store such as gnome-keyring.

If you'd just like to see and/or edit the passwords Firefox has saved, go to Edit -> Preferences -> Security -> Passwords -> Saved Passwords.

Josh, thank you for the information above, but I already knew how Firefox stores passwords and how to change the settings.

As I stated in the title of my post, my questions were referring to the Ubuntu password manager, which as you mentioned is the gnome-keyring.
I want to know how to manage this software, and where to find it. Can you help me with that?

thank you for your time

Hi Rob,
Have you tried going through the Ubuntu menu to Applications -> Accessories -> Passwords and Encryption Keys ? This seems to work fine for me in Jaunty, though I admittedly don't really use gnome-keyring. See also this old discussion of the same topic:

Hope this helps
