Is there no keyring manager for hardy and intrepid?

Asked by Fionn

I remember to have deleted single keys from the keyring with a package called "gnome-keyring-manager" before. Now, I have the problem again, because evolution stored a mistyped mailbox password in the keyring and instead of asking for it again, it throws errors every time the password must be used. So I'd like to delete the key in question manually, but it loks like "gnome-keyring-manager" is no more. There is no package available and the one I had is gone, problably during some update. All that is left is

rc gnome-keyring-manager 2.20.0-0ubuntu2 keyring management program for the GNOME desktop

Deleting the whole keyring to fix the issue is no option for me, since it contains loads of wireless passwords from client companies and I dont want to start collecting them from scratch. I could get an older keyring from the backup but hey, there once was gnome-keyring-manager, where the heck has it gone!?!?

Does anyone have a clue?

Passwords and keyrings can be managed by seahorse, found in :

Applications -> Accessories -> Passwords and Encryption Keys

Unfortunately this is not entirely correct.

The Applications -> Accessories -> Passwords and Encryption Keys Tool allows you to create and remove entire keyrings. You can NOT, however, manage keyrings in the same sense as in gnome-keyring-manager which means you can not use this tool to view, add or remove keys in a keyring. All you can do is delete a keyring completely with all its keys or add a new keyring.

-> Your proposed answer is no solution to the problem. Sorry.

I opened the keyring manager Applications -> Accessories -> Passwords and Encryption Keys Tool,
in the "Passwords" tab is the password for my gmail account in Evolution, which I removed, by highlighting, right-click and selecting "Delete Key".
I restarted Evolution and was prompted for my password.

This is in intrepid, and the application appears to be the same in hardy.

In hardy Heron, using Seahorse, I can add or delete individual keys as well as add or remove keyrings. I can also remove individual passwords.

gnome-keyring is still installed.

To Andy:
I use Hardy Heron with all updates. The "Passwords and Encryption Keys" Tool does not have any "Passwords" tab on my system! However, Andre helped to resolve the problem for me.

To Andre:
Thank you. "Seahorse" pointed me in the right direction. Starting "seahorse" manually revealed a GUI with a passwords tab where I could manage my keyring keys like in gnome-keyring-manager.

I have never used Seahorse before, but according to the Synaptic Package Manager I do have it installed on my OS.
Could someone show me how to start "seahorse" manually?
Where do i find this program anyway?

thank you for your time
