I am having a bit of trouble understanding your question. You are trying to configure a D-link wireless router?

Hi,

Please first connect your network card to the wireless router using an ethernet cable (also known as a LAN cable).

In order to gather essential troubleshooting information about your wireless card, please follow this procedure:

Step 1: Open Terminal from "Applications->Accessories->Terminal"

Step 2: Run the following command. The command STARTS with the word sudo and ENDS with the word restart. So please copy-paste the ENTIRE command below into a Terminal, press enter, then enter password when sudo asks for password, then press enter again.

sudo lshw -C network; sudo iwlist scanning; cat /etc/network/interfaces; cat /etc/lsb-release; lspci -nn; lsusb; uname -a; dmesg | grep ound; dmesg | grep b43; dmesg | grep iwl; iwconfig; sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

Step 3: Please post results (copy/paste terminal output) on this thread

Step 4: Please also specify the exact model and make of your PC (if known) on this thread

Regards,

Mark

Is it possible to connect computer 2 directly to the router using an ethernet cable? Can you give computer 2 an internet connection that way?

Or does computer 2 have no wired nor wireless cards in it?

If you do not have an ethernet card in computer 2 and no ethernet cables, you should buy both an ethernet card and an ethernet cable to at least get the wired connection to the internet working.

i just trying to figure how to either get Dlinks software to run on computer 2 or some other wireless way to get internet

Thanks

Then I suggest buying a wireless card (to put into computer 2) from the URL below, where the rating is 5.0

Anything lower than a 5.0 rating is not acceptable.

http://www.ubuntuhcl.org/browse/search?offset=0&category=25&manufacturer=&os=1&order-by=rating-desc&keywords=

Can you help with this problem?
