sudo iwlist scanning gives this result: "eth1 Failed to read scan data : Invalid argument" --> BCM4312 802.11b/g [14e4:4315] (rev 01) wireless interface not working on Dell inspiron 1545 in Ubuntu 9.04
since I downloaded UBUNTU 9.04 my wireless connection is not working. The wireless networks is grayed out. I am very new to this operating system so please be specific of what I should try. I have a Dell inspiron 1545 Linux. Thank You.

I typed the command iwconfig and this is what I got:
iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
eth1 IEEE 802.11 Nickname:""
Access Point: Not-Associated

Rx invalid nwid:0 invalid crypt:0 invalid misc:0

Hi,
Please first connect your network card to the wireless router using an ethernet cable (also known as a LAN cable).
In order to gather essential troubleshooting information about your wireless card, please follow this procedure:
Step 1: Open Terminal from "Applications-
Step 2: Run the following command. The command STARTS with the word sudo and ENDS with the word restart. So please copy-paste the ENTIRE command below into a Terminal, press enter, then enter password when sudo asks for password, then press enter again.
sudo lshw -C network; sudo iwlist scanning; cat /etc/network/
Step 3: Please post results (copy/paste terminal output) on this thread
