upgrading ubuntu

Asked by Omar. P

I upgraded to ubuntu 9.04 I used the CD, but I didn't overwrite my old version, And when I installed 9.04 I used up to much memory and now I can't really create files. If I reinstalled 9.04 and overwrite my old version 6.10 will it work. Please any advice will be nice.
