Asked by grumpy1958

every time i install ubuntu inside windows xp 3 i find a major conflick between my keyboard and ubuntu (ie) the @ becomes a letter e with a ( ') on top of the e. I hsve even tryed using 2 hard drives 1 with ubuntu and the other with windows xp 3 on it but i find that this IBM Think Center m50 8189 B8U is not able to handel the 2 hard drivers Now my question is, Is it windows xp3 or my computer that is causing the conflick between windows and ubuntu?

Not directly related to your question but, please note:

I suggest you to install Ubuntu NOT using Wubi.

If you have installed Ubuntu via Wubi please uninstall it read http://wubi-installer.org/faq.php

Installing Ubuntu using Wubi make Ubuntu less robust and all problems that you will have to Windows can be affect your Ubuntu partition file.

I strongly suggest you to install Ubuntu+Windows in dual mode creating a real Ubuntu ext3 or ext4 partition.
In this mode you can use Ubuntu and Windows ad usual and then using installed Ubuntu you can save or repair damaged (due viruses or other issue) Windows partitions data.

- Here the steps to install Ubuntu 9.04 https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GraphicalInstall

Is very easy to install, if you need info please ask.

Thank you

It looks like you have some not standard keyboard layout. Check this please by System-->Preferences-->Keyboard-->tab Layouts. In that window you can see the layout by Print-->Print Preview.
