Post here please the name of your packed file or at least the extention, e.g. *.tar.gz for example.

Lol, sorry our messages have been so brief so far. Your link is a local file on your machine, hence the "file:///..." rather than "http://...", so we can't see what you're trying to show :( I think that changing the loading screen is quite tough. I tried it early on, on an earlier release of Ubuntu and messed up so i 'had' to reinstall Ubuntu. I think if i was to try this again then i would go up to the top taskbar and click on

System - Administration - Login window

but really i would steer away from that and focus on sorting out multimedia
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu
and then desktop effects such as fire-writing ;)

Sorry i'm not being very helpful
Good luck and regards tho from
Tom :)

That's a archive file. If you double click on it a default program should lunch which will unpack the faleq most probably making a directory in your Home place. There be some or lot of files.
If you go to the place where you downloaded it from may be you'll find instructions how to manage to install that application. Often it's a bit frustrating for beginners to install a program from .tar.gz in Ubuntu. If there is a . deb file of the same application it's much better to download it because the .deb format is the default for Ubuntu and Package Manager should do all automatically instead of you.

So look there or in the net for something like 89014-nsa.deb .

Typo: faleq to be read as file.

Hi :)

Have you been able to test the new Ubuntu 10.04 before it gets officially released?
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/testing/lucid/beta1
Trying it as a LiveCd or as an extra dual/multi-boot would be ideal. Developers and everyone are keen to try to iron out any problems before 10.04 gets officially released so you might find faster & more effective answers to your bug reports which would make 10.04 work better on your system for you

Thanks and regards from
Tom :)
