this Ubuntu stinks... always heard great things and then when I decide to install, it crashes and crashes and now NO ONE WILL HELP.

Is anyone out there or do I have to go back to Windows and buy stupid XP disk?

Hey, i am sorry you totally slipped through our net here. Thanks for re-posting the question and giving us another chance, hopefully this time we'll get it right. There are some other places you can also try for getting help with Ubuntu
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Signpost/Questions#help

and a forum that covers a lot of different versions of linux, so their answers might not know Ubuntu in great detail but do have the advantage of giving a good overview
http://www.linuxquestions.org

I'm sorry that these addresses weren't given to you before now. Anyway, if you'd like to comment on the bug-reports i linked to this thread then that might help other people in a similar position in the future.

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
