attacco video camera

Asked by debyanto

salve, avendo un pc portatile non fornito di uscita DV ho acquistato una scheda PCMCIA card blus 2 porte IEEE 1394a.
pratcamente consente di aggiungere al pc 2 porte IEEE 1394a, ma il disco con i driver dato in dotazione e per vista e xp.
con ubuntu 8.10 non riesco ad intallarla, qualcino puo darmi una mano?

Allora in pratica sembra non esserci bisogno di installare la scheda firewire perché cercando con google sembra che il chip (VIA) di quella scheda venga già riconosciuto dal kernel.
Prova a fare un tentativo attaccando una videocamera e vedi cosa succede. Se non sai che programma usare per l'acquisizione cerca un po' in rete, ce ne sono diversi, io so che si può usare kino, ma non so altro.
Se comunque la tua videocamera sembra non esistere, prova questa soluzione:
crea (oppure modifica se esiste già) il file /etc/udev/rules.d/40-permissions.rules digitando in un terminale:

sudo gedit /etc/udev/rules.d/40-permissions.rules

e aggiungi le seguenti linee nel file di testo:

# IEEE1394 (firewire) devices
# Please note that raw1394 gives unrestricted, raw access to every single
# device on the bus and those devices may do anything as root on your system.
# Yes, I know it also happens to be the only way to rewind your video camera,
# but it's not going to be group "video", okay?
