Please provide the complete i/o error message you get. This helps to locate the problem.

In case you haven't mounted the drive, try
$ mount /media/floppy

Does listing the content work?
$ ls /media/floppy

tdssm,

If you put the first floppy in the PC, does there appear a symbol on your desktop (probably with a name like "Drive A"...)

With right-mouse-click you can choose "Mount volume" or "Open"
...
at that moment the actual situation on the floppy is read and it is mounted at location /media/floppy/ ...
if you change the actual disk, then the "old" information is still at /media/floppy/ , so you will still see the previous floppy!

BEFORE changing a disk (or USB-device) you should ALWAYS close applications that has open files on it AND you must unmount the volume, in this way:
right-click on the icon on your desktop, choose "unmount volume"
now wait until it turns coloured dark-grey... at this moment you can change the actual device, and mount the new one.

Does this description help you ?!?

Can you help with this problem?
