I'm guessing that you mean that your Applications menu is gone? If this is correct, try the following.

1) Right-click on the gnome-panel (that is on the space where your application menu used to be)
2) Click "Add to Panel"
3) Select "Menu Bar"
4) Click the "+ Add" button.

I hope this helps. If this is not what you meant, please clarify your question.

Just to clarify, is your menu back now? Were you able to follow the directions I gave? If you added the menu but it is in a place that is inconvient you can right click on it and select move and the move it around and then click again to place it. If your firefox icon won't move, you will have to right click on it and make sure "Lock To Panel" is unchecked.

I'm sorry, I'm having a bit of trouble understanding the problem you are running into. Can you describe in detail what exactly you are missing and what happens when you follow my directions above. Not also, that to follow those directions you can right click on any empty space on your top bar.

Ok. your Applications and System menu is actually not controlled by
your firefox browser. I'm guessing what has happened then, is that
you have acciddently removed your entire top panel. Do you still have
the thing on the bottom that shows you what applications are open?

Ok, then try the following:

1) Right click on a blank space on the bar on the bottom.
2) Click "Add Panel"

This should create a new panel. This panel should be on the top, if
it isn't do this:

1) Right-click on the new panel.
2) Click Properties
3) Change orientation to top.
4) Click Close

Once you have this new panel you should be able to follow the
directions above. I will reproduce them in this post for clarity.

1) Right-click on the gnome-panel (that is on the space where your
application menu used to be)
2) Click "Add to Panel"
3) Select "Menu Bar"
4) Click the "+ Add" button.

You probably want to repeat this last procedure to add other applets
such as "Clock", "User Switcher" and "Notification Area"

Remember, you can move these around after they have been added by
right-clicking on them and hitting "move"
