is D-Link System Inc DL2000-based Gigabit Ethernet supported by Ubuntu 22.04?

Asked by Borries Demeler

The Ubuntu 22.04 installer doesn't detect a network card on my system.
The network is cearly working for Slackware (which runs a different kernel).
lspci returns:
01:05.0 Ethernet controller: D-Link System Inc DL2000-based Gigabit Ethernet (rev 0c)
01:06.0 Ethernet controller: D-Link System Inc DL2000-based Gigabit Ethernet (rev 0c)
01:07.0 Ethernet controller: D-Link System Inc DL2000-based Gigabit Ethernet (rev 0c)
for the three cards I have in there. Is this hardware not supported by U22.04?

These cards are PCI boards, not USB.
Thanks, -borries

Thanks, but: this response did not address my question, which was:
Is this hardware supported/detected by the Ubuntu 22.04 installer (yes or no)? If not, is there a simple way to add it during the installation? THanks again, -Borries

All hardware should be detected by the Ubuntu installer.
After the installation.
If it does not find your network card open Software & Updates
select the Additional Drivers Tab
This will automatically search for drivers available for your computer.

This did not solve the problem. Since the network was not detected, it could not search the internet for new drivers (!). The drivers supplied with the Ubuntu installer apparently do not include drivers for this hardware. I abandoned Ubuntu for that reason and installed Slackware 15, which worked right out of the box and had no issues detecting the hardware.
In addition the video hardware on this computer (NVidia GeForce 8200) was not supported by the default graphics driver, graphics performance was buggy and not useful, lots of flickering and loss of mouse control. The Slackware kernel's NVidia driver worked perfectly as well, proving that it was not an issue with the hardware.

Can you help with this problem?
