Firefox will not display youtube videos
Ubuntu 20.04
Today, I used apt upgrade, which included firefox to version 110.0 64-bit.
Now, firefox will not display youtube videos - just hangs in the loading loop.
I waited 5 minutes.
Any ideas?

Did you look online for what those lines mean?

You removed the Firefox installation directory.
The installation directory is the directory where a Mozilla application stores its program files.
This applies to all Mozilla applications, including Firefox,

from mozilla:
mesa_glthread:
Since bug 1670545 we unconditionally override the mesa_glthread

Unfortunately this triggers warnings from Mesa, cluttering debug

show_bug.
Apologies for the confusing error message but to clarify, the mp4parse
error is not a fatal error and won't affect playback. The cause of
playback issues is something else - looking back at the original comment
on this bug, this log message suggests no decoder is available for AAC:

Firefox recreated the .mozilla directory on first start.
Youtube videos will not play.

The fact that playing videos in a browser does not work can be caused by two "culprits", either the browser program or by the video playback subroutines used the browser but packages separately.
Have you tried playing a youtube video in a different browser (e.g. chromium), and have you tried playing videos outside a browser (e.g. with vlc) and does that work or fail?
Have you tried playing other internet videos (outside youtube, e.g. facebook) and does that work?

This system has been my daily driver for the past year.
I could play youtube videos the day before the 'apt upgrade' using
firefox on this system. After the apt upgrade, I can not play youtube
videos.
I installed LVC. I can view a .mpg from the disk u sing LVC.
I can not play this same file with firefox - it just displays the first
frame and then nothing. Pausing the video and restarting does nothing.

The message: "Automatic missing codec installation not supported" is
interesting. How do I fix this?
I used 'apt upgrade' 02/11/2023 and 02/22/2023. From
/var/log/
02/11/2023:
firefox-
109.0.1+

The video, https:/
was posted 6 days ago and I watched it with firefox. So, on or about
02/19/2023, firefox would play youtube videos.

The message "Automatic missing codec installation not supported (helper script missing)" can be found several times with a web search, and the suggested solution there usually is
sudo apt install gstreamer1.
Not sure whether it will help in your case.

I have that.
The answer was found in one of the search results.
REBOOT!!!
Fixed the problem.
There is some miss-connect in the firefox upgrade chain. Something the
boot process fixes, like kernel?
Anyway, this is fixed.
However the process revealed another problem and an unanswered question.
dhclient is not started on boot or maybe it is pointed to wifi when I am
using a wired connection.
