I have been encountering errors trying to install Ubuntu server. How can I resolve this issue and successfully install the Ubuntu server ?

Asked by Charlesu101

I have successfully installed the Ubuntu desktop 20.04LTS, and also have tried to install the Ubuntu server both on my Virtualbox. I keep encountering errors when I'm trying complete the installation of the Ubuntu server. Though I have tried the option of deleting the downloaded files and reinstalling it but not successful in the installation. What can I do to resolve this?

What are the errors? Why say "errors" then not state the exact error you are seeing....?

I assume you MD5 testes the ISO you downloaded before using it to make sure it was complete and consistent, or used torrents to download it.

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded or use Torrents to download the file?

I had used Torrents to download the ISO but the file was unable to be
mounted to the startup disk, so I tried to use the manual download but
still got the same error message.

"still got the same error message." Which one?

This is similar to saying: I cannot drive with my car.
Why? Broken engine? Flat tire? Ran out of fuel? No driver's license?

Please go more into details and describe what you do, what's happening and which error messages you receive.

Why are you not saying what the error message is!? It could be a million different errors. What are the exact words you see in the "error"

Thank you for your response, I will attach to this email a screenshot of
the error message that pops out when I'm setting up the installation for
the Ubuntu server 20.04.2 LTS ISO.

Getting to the "confirm destructive action" and enter on continue. An error
message pops Sorry, there was a problem completing the installation. with
an option to [View full report], [Send to Canonical], [Restart the
installer], [Close report]. I have tried all these options and attached is
a screenshot of the [View full report].

E-Mail attachments do not work, they are discarded by the Launchpad answers mail interface.

I suggest that you re-start with a new empty virtual disk.

That did not solve the problem, but I had just fixed the problem and what I did was just to download the older version of the Ubuntu server 18.04.5 ISO and it installed without any error in my machine and working now.
