You can clear the Google Earth GPG warning with:

What game are you trying to run? Did you check the WINE AppDb for compatibility?

Thanks actionparsnip for both your responses. I have posted some further
info relating to the game, which does not appear to be listed in the
Wine AppDb.

Thanks actionparsnip,

The game is "Everybody's Gone To The Rapture" (PC version)
The stated system requirements are:

     Minimum:
         OS: 64-bit Windows 7, 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1) or 64-bit Windows 10
         Processor: Intel Core i5-4570T 2.9 GHz / AMD FX-6100 3.3 GHz
         Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti / AMD Radeon HD 6850
         DirectX: Version 11
         Storage: 8 GB available space
         Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

The game plays satisfactorily on the same machine (Apple iMac 14,1) when
running Windows 10

What a game does or doesn't do in a different OS is entirely irrelevant. It is a different OS with completely different ways of doing things in every single way. Just because it runs in Windows doesn't mean it will run in Linux.

If the game is available in Steam, have you tried installing the Steam client to see if the game is available in Linux in that system?

Thanks again actionparsnip. Steam does not offer a Linux version of this
game. I will continue trying to start it in Ubuntu periodically, and
until the situation changes I will boot into Windows when I want to play.

If you post on a WINE forum, they may be able to advise better. Maybe other users on here can help

As @actionparsnip replyed on stream is Everybody's Gone to the Rapture game & Rapture Rejects game &
Rapture World Conquest game. Which plays excellent on Linux.

Thanks @Bernard Stafford for this suggestion. I'm not able to try out
this option at present, and I wasn't aware of it, but I appreciate the
idea is it could stream a game running on a windows machine to a linux
machine.
