How to become official mirror?

Asked by Olleg Samoylov

I already registered my mirror as new
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+mirror/ftp.mipt.ru-archive
But this mirror is marked as unofficial: "This mirror is an unofficial Ubuntu mirror, and will not be verified." What I need to do to apply this mirror as official?

You may contact Matt Zimmerman for this, he's the cto of canonical:

Answer from Matt Zimmerman:

All the information you need is here:

http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/mirror

It's strange. There are at least 2 different mirrors list, one in launchpad, second in wiki https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Archive. Instruction about registration in ubuntu site and in launchpad is different. Well next attempt will be send mail to <email address hidden>.

Hm, I sent an email to <email address hidden> and reapplied in the web form the checkbox for an official mirror. I don't know what did help me, but now I am an official mirror. :-)

Mirrors when submitted to Launchpad are unofficial until one of the Ubuntu mirror team manually verifies the mirror and marks it official.

The mirror prober in Launchpad must then verify the contents of the mirror before the mirror is listed in Launchpad as official. The whole process can take 3-4 days depending on the availability of staff.
