cant see a internet logo anywhere and the page is too big using ubuntu19.4

I hae loaded ubuntu 19.4 and i find the top line is barely on the page. also thee is no icon to tell me im connected.

if i turn the computer off .i have to go into setup and nominate the hdd
for first boot when i turn it on again...
i changed my page size to get the logo back.

There is no page file in Ubuntu. Are you using Windows?
