Hi Rahul,

Is the right device set under 'System->Preferences->Sound'?

With my 8.04 I had the same issue.
I made sure that the right sound card was selected and after that I installed ALSA Mixer to make sure that the volume was at the highest possible.

Let me know
Kind regards,
Raffaello

Try double clicking on the sound control icon in the upper right of the Ubuntu desktop.

In the Volume Control window, Click the Playback tab. Now check your PCM settings. I have found that setting is often set to half or 75% of full.

Raising that setting should increase your overall volume.

Can you help with this problem?
