Yes, just delete the windows file system partition ....
but backup your important data first ....

How to do this, boot ubuntu live cd, choose to try ubuntu withot changing your computer ...
open partition editor in, system - administration - partition editor ...
delete your windows partition, and resize your ubuntu partition ...

Please becareful of using partition editor, make sure you back up your important data first before delete a partition

Good luck

stick the xp disk in, reboot, choose the repair option, and fix the mbr. next time you install ubuntu, put grub on sda1 (or whatever your /boot partition is) and

you won't have this problem

Ups, if you still get windows option in grub menu, you can edit menu.lst by do this command in terminal ...

sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst

And just delete the windows option at the end of file, if you're not really sure to edit that by yourself, just paste the content of your menu.lst to here, maybe we can help you to do that ...

Good luck

Thanks for info. Will try in next couple of days and let you know - I assume
this will take care of MBR automatically.

Most of us keep a working Windows even if we strip it right down and shrink it's partition right down, and make the menu.lst default to booting into Ubuntu. Sometimes games and things run better under Windows and it's really tough to install.

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

To Tom: I have a second unit which still carries Windows.
Otherwise I now have enough info.
