USB wireless driver for Toshiba T8000

Asked by Smw

I'm just downloading ubuntu to load onto an old Toshiba T8000 laptop. Once loaded, I'll need to connect using a USB wireless adaptor, so the question is which USB attachment should I buy?

Cheers, Steve.

Hi,

I suggest choosing a USB card from the URL below, where the rating is 5.0

Anything lower than a 5.0 rating is not acceptable.

http://www.ubuntuhcl.org/browse/search?offset=0&category=25&manufacturer=&os=1&order-by=rating-desc&keywords=

Kind regards,

Mark

Many thanks for the pointer Mark.

I've ordered an Edimax EW-7318Ug - I'll let you know how it goes.

Steve.

Connected the Edimax Ew-7318Ug, and syslog seemed to say the right sort of things, but the last message is:

wlan0: link not ready - which is probably not a good sign.

The out put from iwcongif shows details for wlan0, but does say the access point in Not-Associated and the link quality is zero.

Any suggestions out there?

Cheers, Steve.

No worries - on the tenth time of trying it, 'Add hidden wireless network' seems to have done the trick.

Watching syslog, I get a 'wlan0: link becomes ready' !

Thanks for the help.

Steve.
