Skype displays wrong alphabet
When I installed Skype on Hardy 8.04 it worked ok.
When I launched Skype after some time I hadn't used it didn't display Latin alphabet any more but a (probably) Indian alphabet.
The set language for Skype (in its config file) is "it" and, in fact, the Title bar is ok but all the rest isn't. E.g. contacts, prompts, etc.
I have uninstalled Skype and removed all its files. Re-downloaded and installed: still wrong alphabet.
Running "locale" all variables are set to it_IT, UTF-8 exepted LC_ALL which is not set: LC_ALL=
The only actions I have done during the period between the ok and wrong situations are:
- installed some fonts
- removed and reinstalled ubuntu-desktop. It was corrupted somehow and the desktop didn't start.
I would be very glad if somebody could tell me how Skype picks up the information about which alphabet to use. I could hack the relevant file.
Thank you very much for your help
Regards
Sergio
