Come on folks !

Asked by RichPicker

Every day more people post on the users' groups that their mic doesn't work with Feisty. Is it really a huge problem for you developers to get the mic to work? I finally got my mic to work with Edgy after lots of hassle. But not now with Feisty. And no working solution has been offered from your side of the fence. Come on folks. What's the problem? Go ahead and scold me for bashing Ubunix, but polite requests from me, and others, has yielded nada. It;s a mic, not nuclear fission.

We are working on it, when we release a distro to dozens of thousands of people, we get bug reports for loads and loads of different things. Some more important than others.

The mic problem is being taken into account, with all the other bug reports and errors, but some bugs are more important than others, networking bugs for example.

I shall not scold you today, but please think about other people (yes I know you mentioned other mic users), but kernel errors, networking, and xserver problems are more critical and must be addressed first.

If you like, ask around for people in #ubuntu-devel, #ubuntu-bugs, or #ubuntu-motu for the people who are working on it.

Thank you very much for replying. I understand your
situation. Knowing that it's being worked on is all I
wanted to hear. I apologize for any rudeness. I
appreciate your hard work. I will be perfectly patient
henceforth, and will do whatever I can to contribute
to the solutions.

I am so stupid!!! The mic works.
Instead of adding this to the alsa-base file:
options snd-hda-intel model=ref (= character)

I added this:
options snd-hda-intel model-ref (- character)

I apologize if I wasted any or your time. I will pay
MUCH closer attention from now on.

Thank you for your help.

Please CLOSE the bug.
