Computer shuts down afte installing Ubunto 8.10

Asked by Max Dumlao

I was able to upgrade from Ubunto 8.04 toUbunto 8.10 using the internet. Although I am able to boot up and open my computer to Ubunto desktop, the computer shuts down about 10 second after any program I access opens and I start using the program. I will appreciate anyone who could help me resolve this problem so that I could enjoy using Ubunto once more. Luckily, I opted to have dual booting in my computer. Thanks a lot.

Check your RAM memory:

- boot from Ubuntu live cd main menu and at first showed menu, select the item "Memory test" to test your pc ram memory

Please run memory test for many hours or stop it and replace your memory chip if you get errors (the errors usually are rows in red colour)

If you have more than one memory chip on your motherboard to get damaged chip please run the memory test with only one chip inserted a time.

Hope this helps

I replaced and doubled the RAM of my computer to 1 GB but I am still experiencing the same problem. Do you have other suggestions for me to try? Thank you.
