Can you give us some more info about your mode of connection (i.e. PC-router-DSLmodem or PC-DSLmodem?) and the type of account do you have (i.e it is a password required?), type of modem (USB or Ethernet, brand and model will be better).
And , of course, which Ubuntu version are you using.

Ok. I see what your trying to do here and it depends on a few quick questions: 1: did the connections ever work. Because the system is originally designed to just auto detect most things plugged into the Enet socket. 2: There is a bug in the network manager in version 8.10 that causes the settings to be lost after a shut down. Its being worked on in the Bug Reports sight. So if you made settings, then go there and see that they still are. 3: Did you ever go to the Hardware Drivers Installer and make sure all the restricted drivers are installed. Need to check that. Several things can happen to effect this problem. 4. and what version of ubuntu 8.04, 8.10. And I will see if I can help you get this thing up and running. tks

Can you help with this problem?
