What steps are you taking to get this system out of sleep mode?

What happens if you press the power button?

What happens if you press, hold down for a few seconds, and then release the power button?

When you press the power button the computer sounds like it's running, but nothing on the screen the light that is a z inside a circle is lit up as well the battery that it , if you keep power button pressed just turns it off Thanks Jayne > To: <email address hidden>> From: <email address hidden>> Subject: Re: [Question #55786]: IBM Thinkpad T41, just went into sleep mode whilst in use can not get it out of sleep mode now> Date: Mon, 29 Dec 2008 18:00:44 +0000> > Your question #55786 on Ubuntu changed:> https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/55786> > Status: Open => Answered> > cmnorton proposed the following answer:> > What steps are you taking to get this system out of sleep mode?> > What happens if you press the power button?> > What happens if you press, hold down for a few seconds, and then release> the power button?> > -- > If this answers your question, please go to the following page to let us> know that it is solved:> https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/55786/+confirm?answer_id=0> > If you still need help, you can reply to this email or go to the> following page to enter your feedback:> https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/55786> > You received this question notification because you are a direct> subscriber of the question.

The only thing I can think of at this point is to boot this system with an Ubuntu live or other recovery CD, like Knoppix, mount your laptop's hard drive, and go look under your laptop's /var/log directory for information in the logs. This path will be preceeded by more information, as your true /var/log directory will be that belonging to your boot cd.

Been having the same problem, this has worked to bring it out of sleep mode: press the function button and the center blue button above the mouse pad. Don't know why that works, wish IBM would get it together.

Can you help with this problem?
