where can I get an update disk - not a new installation disk?

Asked by bobmac

Folks,

As I only have a 512 broadband line to update a version takes around 5 1/2 hours and takes up around half of my monthly download quota.

As an oap I can't afford to upgrade my broadband.

I wonder if it's possible to get a disk that only updates to the new version as opposed to the cds that one can order for each version which appear to only install a new version of ubuntu.

Regards,

Bob

you can download alternate cd with text based installer for upgrade to new version.unfortunately ubuntu does not ship it,you have to download it from www.ubuntu.com and burn it on a cd and use it to upgrade

bhuvi,
Many thanks for your response to my question. Can I assume that to
download alternate cd will take approximately the same amount of time
as would just doing an online update?

regards,
Bob

as it is a single file you could select a download location near you and use a download manager to accelerate your download.

Can you help with this problem?
