Mic not working in feisty

Asked by Perfect spawn

My microfone was working fine in Ubuntu Edgy. Yesterday I updated to Feisty and the microfone is not working anymore, but I can hear music and other sounds. I can't hear my own voice from the mic.
Mic is not muted. If i turn the speaker volume up, I can hear a sound like static.
I really need this microfone working. I have searched trough internet for the last 4 hours, but can't find a solution.

More info.

The output of "arecord -l" is quite interesting. I'm not sure it should display that many capture devices.
(this is in portuguese. but i think you can understand)

pspawn@bighi-desktop:~$ arecord -l

My problem is now solved. I installed kmix and edited an option about jack.

Everything is working fine now.

I have an Intel ICH6 and have exactly this problem. I installed kmix, but I don't see any options about "jack". Could you possibly provide more specific information about how you solved the problem?

There was an option about "Surround Jack Mode". I changed it to "independent" and the problem was gone.

Well, then I'm screwed, because I have no such option. Kmix also looks
identical to alsa mixer with all the properties turned on, which is
interesting.

Now I found this option on the gnome volume control (don't know if this is really the name).
Under Edit->Preferences there is a checkbox for "surround jack mode".

Checking this will make the option to configure the surround jack mode appear on the volume control.
I hope this helps.

Yeah, that option doesn't exist for me.
