Will Ubuntu desktop work on a laptop

I want to dual boot Ubuntu and Windows XP on a laptop. Will the desktop version work on my laptop

Hi,

Without the reference of the laptop, it will be very difficult to answer. Anyway, the best is probably just to try: burn a CD and boot on the live CD.

Definitely worth trying. I'd go for a dual boot system and keep your current operating system just in case it doesn't work. Ubuntu is good with only 5Gb or maybe even less at first. Gparted is great at helping you use space at the end of your drive and the installer helps you set up the dual boot fairly automatically and easily, even for Linux noobs like me.

The desktop version of Ubuntu is definitely the one to go for unless you are going to use your laptop as a server (unlikely).
