Every problem has a solution. Please, take a few minutes and explain us for every program you're trying to install: where did you get it, what steps are you taking to install them and what error message are you getting.
With that for sure we can give you extra help to install'em all.

Waiting for your answer.

When I try to play movies On Realplayer from ubuntu It tells that it can't be played because i have missing Plug ins....
It Takes me to a website Called Helix... But when i arrive i get a message that says the the page doesn't exist...
so i try to download these plug ins that i found at the website for realplayer but i end up getting files Ubuntu Can't Even Open......

When I Tried To Install Beryl It gave me a file that i had to open in order to install Beryl but unbuntu tells me there are no applications that can open the file....
The File is : " NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9755-pkg1.run" This file is directly From the Beryl Website www.Berylproject.org

When i try to install the Driver For the Nvidia 6200 Directly from Nvidia specifically for linux i try to run it in the terminal but all i get is a message that it can't be run.....

When I try to install the flash plug ins for Mozilla i get a. Tar file that i can open but can't install because when i try it's doesn't do a damn thing!

er, try this is in a command line, and paste the output if you get any errors

sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx

paste the output...

P.S, if that DOES run okay, which sounds unlikely with the descriptions you have been giving, then run

sudo nvidia-xconfig

to set up the drivers completely

Hello !

In fact I think the problem is that you try to use Ubuntu the same way you used Windows ;) ... No prob, after some time you'll get used to it ...

OK, let's start at the beginning ... I guess you want RealPlayer to play multimedia files ? For this kind of stuff we have Totem (installed by default) or a lot of other softs ... If you want to play multimedia content which is not supported by default installation, it is probably due to legal issues ... You can add support for MP3, DivX, etc by following instructions here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats
(in fact, you can also install RealPlayer, but it's not recommended and it's no use as the default application makes everything (and even a bit more ;)))

Now, I guess you want to install Beryl ... In this case, you'll have to read this: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CompositeManager ... There are quite a lot of important informations there, I recommend reading everything and follow the interesting links (like the one providing Beryl specific informations ;)) (for information, the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9755-pkg1.run you have is not really an executable, as it is a shell script ... If you read the instructions calmly, you would have found the way to execute it the right way)

Feel free to ask questions if some parts of the Howtos are too technical or not much explained.

Hope this helps !

Regards,
Benoît

Okay...
Reposnse to Benoit: I followed the direction the link you gave me to help me play my music video files..
The directions given ended in error... I got an error message , so the story sticks, i still cant do anything...
"E: Couldn't find package gstreamer0.10-pitfdll"
That was the error message.

And Ask for the Beryl instructions i did read and fact i found it quite amusing however like i stated before, i use the packages downloaded from the website....
And Your right i'am new to ubuntu and i would appreciate your help on opening packages and getting most of my things up and running

I don't know if you're still having problems, but this guide is quite useful assuming you're running Feisty. I you're not running Feisty, I'd recommend giving it a try. Installing support for restricted drivers, codecs etc is much, much easier than in previous implementations of Ubuntu.

Dear folks,

I tried to install Ubuntu 7.1: ubuntu-7.10-alternate-i386.iso on intel Pentium D machine. I have no idea whether it is 32 or 64 bit.

But it freezes after I press the default booting mode. NOTHING happened.

Can anyone give me an advise

Thanks

Zaldy

Did you verify the MD5 of the burned CD and compare it to the MD5 on the
ubuntu site for the image you downloaded? If these two lines are different,
your burning messed up. Try burning on a different disc, at a lower speed.
