Ubuntu

When I open Ubuntu software app, it displays for a few seconds, no programs visible, then closes. It used to work.

Hello,

I am new to Ubuntu and can only download apps from the Ubuntu software page.
However, today when I wanted to look at the app. options, they won't display.

The software centre opens for a few seconds then closes. No applications are visible, just blank squares with a few dots inside.

I have probably turned something off somewhere but don't have a clue where to look.

Wouls appreciate some help.

There is a known problem with gnome-software (bug #1606238 )
A suggested workaround is deleting the files in ~/.local/share/gnome-software/

How would I do that? How do I navigate to these files? (I am really a beginner).

Simply run:

sudo rm -r ~/.local/share/gnome-software/*

Thanks for that.

But my link, or "arrow screen" seems to have disappeared from the search
menu.

I can't type in anything at the moment.

Sorry to be so ignorant but if I can get it back I'll fill in the above and
see what happens.
