windows xp remote & IR receiver

I'm a total novice when it comes to ubuntu. I tried to follow the instructions but the remote still didn't work. Would you have any other tips?

First of all, I want to mention that lirc - being a good library which gives us the functionality we need when it comes to infrared remotes - is not easy to work with. If you want to setup lirc, you will need to try and fail some times before you get it right.

With that sayd, you should also check out http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Ubuntu_lirc_install

If you still have issues on getting this to work right, you should supply some more information: How far through the guide have you gotten? Where do you think something is going wrong?
