My display is the wrong size. When I go to the display settings it says monitor unknown.

Asked by Aidan Salasin-Deane

My display is the wrong size. When I go to the display settings it says monitor unknown. In the middle it says unknown, monitor undetected. It is only giving me one monitor size/resolution option.

What release of Ubuntu?
Does the system have a make and model?
We don't even know the video chip... Or anything about the system.

With so little information how can anyone reply? Imagine if this was posted on a Windows forum. Same issue. What is the answer?

We cannot see your system. You need to give details about the system as well as the symptoms.
