I am assuming you were using xchat or xchat-gnome...

You should be able to access the program from

Applications | Internet | xchat

I then prefer to join freenode (which is already in the list of servers).

Once you are on freenode you type:

/join #ubuntu

I also hang out in ubuntuforums-beginners if you want to find me to ask questions.

im guessing that you were in an IRC channel? well, in that case, open up your IRC client... pidgin or gaim is usually the most popular for beginners.

either way, join the freenode channel #ubuntu on irc.freenode.net

or join #ubuntu-us-pa (we are also there to help!)

Hi PrivateVoid,
Many thanks for your help which helped me resolve the problem.
I am using freenode as you say.
Maybe we'll get the opportunity to meet again on the ubuntu forums.
Regards,

Hi xlukasx and thanks for your reply. I have soluttioned the problem
using Pidgin IRC cliente freenode channel #ubuntu etc., and this worked.
I had a couple of replies saying the same and it's very much appreciated
your assistance. As you say we are all here to help one another!
Maybe one day I will be able to help others, but being a beginner I need
more help than I can give at the moemnt. I have a few niggly problems
which are very hard to resolve without the help of others.
Long live Linux!!!

Glad you got the questions answered... the best thing about Ubuntu is the community. Feel free to ask me for help in the future.

PrivateVoid thanks very much for your help and you are right the Ubuntu
community is fabulous. I'm having problems trying to burn 3 Audio CD's
to one CD compressed. I'm used to mp3 which plays on mp3 players, but
does Linux compressed format play the same? I put all the music from the
CD's into the computer as ogg format and tried all sorts of ways to burn
the music to one disc. When I finally did it and put it in the mp3
player it wouldn't work. I think I've managed to crack it with a friend
but by getting him to process it thru his computer with Windows. Can you
help as it's driving me bananas!! It just seems to be so complicated. In
Windows with Nero it's automatic and quick! So far it's not that way
with Linux - disappointing!!! Thanks

Most CD Players do not play OGG files only MP3 or actual audio cds.

Hi again. Well that's something new I have learnt today. So then how do
I actually make an mp3 CD from my ogg files? mp3 or the Linux equivalent
that will play on an mp3 player!
