cannot get pogo to work properly

Asked by thehandicapspot

I have installed xubuntu Hardy Heron. I have so far installed Frostwire and works fine. I have been having trouble with Pogo.com. For some reason I get to a game I want to play and a pop up screen appears and says game loading. than another screen appears and asks if I trust this applet. I say yes and ask to add to white list. This happens numerous times and then the screen closes. I am new to this and have found out how to use terminal. Please help. My wife is getting frustrated she cannot play her online games. Thanks.

Have you checked all the Edit/Preference settings in Firefox are ok?

everything on edit/preferences looks fine. I have enabled Pogo.com to allow pop ups since they use a pop up window for their games. however, the issue seems to be with flash player or Java. I have the latest java installed. i do not know if I have a flash player installed and do not know which one works best for Ubuntu and firefox.

John,
I do advise against including personal details here, merely included my email address once, and regret it.
As for flash player, I used Synaptic to install the Adobe flashplugin-nonfree which does entail legal obligations.

After many hours of frustration myself, we just cracked the code of making pogo (java applets) and ubuntu work together.
The root of the problem stemmed from the fact that the computer was 64 bit but Pogo seemed to need a 32 bit JRE. Installed icedtea-gcjwebplugin from synaptics and Pogo finally worked!

Thank you Ipeckaz! This did the trick for me and was a great help as I had no idea where to begin to fix this problem.

My pogo will load but does not go all the way into the game so I can play it.
So how did you install icedtea-gcjwebplugin from synaptics

How did you install synaptics?
