Movieplayer wont play mpeg4

Hi all,
Using Ubuntu 8.04 Athlon 64bit dual core.

I like to use Movieplayer a lot but it will not play mpeg4 videos.
I can of course use VLC, but why cant Movieplayer play mpeg4?

I have downloaded and installed libdvdcss-1.2.8.tar.bz2 but it still will not play mpeg4.

I get error message "Could not determine type of stream"
